Jazz Nights at Roedde House presents the Sarah Kennedy Trio: Tribute to Joni Mitchell and Charles Mingus
December's installment of the Roedde House Museum's monthly jazz series features vocalist Sarah Kennedy, pianist Dan Reynolds and bassist Conrad Good.
The group will be performing a tribute to Joni Mitchell and Charles Mingus, inspired by the lyrical and compositional genius of the collaborative album "Mingus"; the melding of poetic folk music and avant-garde jazz at its finest.
A rare opportunity to hear this complex music reinterpreted for an intimate setting, the show will cover the entire album as well as other pieces from Joni's and Mingus' lifeworks. You should come expecting your listening experience to be both heavy and humorous, disturbing and peaceful, ferocious and tender.
This concert is part of a monthly concert series, taking place on the second Thursday of each month at 7pm.

There are 4 available spots, designated as "Roedde House Museum Guests", on a private parking lot at the back of the house (alongside Broughton St).
Other options include the parking lot at the Empire Landmark Hotel (Robson & Broughton) or street parking on Robson and in the West End.
Parking spots are scarce in the neighbourhood, so give yourself some extra time or use public transportation. (Closest Skytrain station: Burrard. We are on the #5 Robson bus route).
