Holiday Wreath-Making Workshop
'Tis the season for Sonoma Ecology Center's annual Holiday Wreath-Making Workshop on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sonoma Garden Park.
Renowned Sonoma Valley florist Natasha Drengson will guide participants to create stylish winter wreaths using local, natural materials. Participants will use dried flower-heads, twigs, branches, and other seasonal garden "cast-offs" to lend form, texture, and beauty to their holiday wreaths.
Sonoma Ecology Center will provide basic workshop materials. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own materials, such as stems of berries, dried flowers, seedpods, canning lids, burlap, garden clippings, ribbon, or any other small items that will lend unexpected fun and whimsy to their one-of-a-kind creations. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own pruners, scissors, wire-cutters, and/or knives.
All participants will leave with their hand-crafted wreaths.
This two-hour, family friendly hands-on workshop is open to the public, and is suitable for all levels of experience. Warm beverages and refreshments will be served.
Workshop fee varies: $25 for small wreaths, $35 for large. Members of Sonoma Ecology Center receive $5 off. All proceeds benefit Sonoma Garden Park, an educational campus of Sonoma Ecology Center.
Dregnson's artistic history in the Bay Area spans more than thirty years. She was the featured floral designer for Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa throughout the 1980s, owned Sonoma-based Tasha's Floral Design in the 1990s, and more recently co-owned Nature's Garden florist & antiques shop with her husband. Natasha has been recognized in the DeYoung Museum's annual Bouquets to Arts, and has a loyal following throughout the Wine Country and Greater Bay Area. Her most recent achievements are the publication of the children's fable "Hula Girl, Moose and Penguin; Looking for The Art" and the 2013 Bouquets to the Dead show at Sonoma Mountain Cemetery.
