New Keys Fall Concert: A Sum of Parts
Bay Area music collective New Keys kicks off its 10th season of newfangled music for the piano with 5 premieres, hand-selected to show the unique musical style of each member and the breadth of new music being written for the piano.
The evening takes place on Friday, November 22nd, 8pm at Center for New Music 55 Taylor St in downtown San Francisco and will feature multiple pianos and plenty of keyboard "cousins" (vibraphones & toy keyboards), a gorgeous hand-painted graphic score by Amanda Schoofs, and additional new works by Evan Ziporyn, Danny Clay, Chad McKinney, and Mark Clifford/Lucy Moore. The performing members of the collective Paul Naughton, Lucy Moore, Anthony Porter, Regina Schaffer, and Kanoko Nishi. We will be joined by very special guests Sarah Cahill, Jason Hoopes, Theresa Wong and Andrew Meyerson.
New Keys' mission is to surface and promote the newest and most innovative music for the piano. We challenge composers to explore the vast untapped potential of the piano and strive to craft the experience of a piano "recital" as both captivating and approachable for our audience.
