Finn Parker Presents: An Intimate Evening With Half Acre
Finn Parker is a trader. I mean a SERIOUS beer trader. Seems like everytime we're looking to get our hands on something cool, Finn always responds with, "I know a guy..." He's a good friend to have. The best part about Finn is that the dude likes to share. As a result, we put our heads together and came up with an idea for an intimate event that we could put on in the small private room just off the bar at Urge. Limited to 12 guests, it will be a chance to taste some amazing beers that Finn has gotten his hands on. All beers for this event are brewed by Half Acre in Chicago. The beers to be included are:
Annica: Anicca IPA is single hopped snake juice showcasing the Mosaic hop, a plant throwing off a cornucopia of fruit flavors. Bitter sweet and full of force, this IPA bends your brain into a tropical storm of writhing glory. Rate Beer Score: 97
Beer Hates Astronauts: Imagine a comic book. The kind with superheroes and punching and stuff. Now imagine that most of those superheroes are kind of total jerks. Add in a lot of profanity. No, more profanity than that. Ok, now throw in felonious owls, spectral bovines, gorilla arms, lots of bears, unplanned pregnancy, and 19th century boxer John L. Sullivan. And then a little more profanity. And be sure to include almost nothing about theology or space exploration. Now imagineand this is keybeing able to drink all that. And then imagine it's called Beer Hates Astronauts. Rate Beer Score 92
Pony: Pony is new to the scene, but we welcome this pilsner lager into the fold like an old friend. Pony is a crisp, clean pilsner you can saddle on up to the bar and order with a confident, rangy thunder. Get on yer stoop or prepare for the trek, there's a Pony in every pint.
Daisy Cutter: A west coast Pale Ale chock-full of dank, aromatic hops. This one's a screamer. Rate Beer Score: 99
Akari Shogun: A ridable 5.5% abv will host some wheatey nuts & juicy Motueka hop bolts. The deliverer of this truth: Akari Shogun, He who harnesses light will usher this summer force into your life. Rate Beer Score: 96
Gossamer: This Golden Ale is a quality travel companion that aims to please with subtlety and aroma pop. Rate Beer Score: 86
Over Ale: This brown beer is a hybrid concoction brewed with malt heft and all around backbone. A styleless wonder.
Double Daisy Cutter: Double Daisy Cutter is a monster version of the original Daisy Cutter Pale Ale. A heftier grain bill amps up the weight and double dry hopping insures there's enough hops to recede your gums. Rate Beer Score: 99
Each attendee will receive about 5oz of each beer. Your ticket gets you entry to the event and a healthy portion of unhealthy (but delicous) food provided by Urge. Finn will host the event, provide the beer and "share" it amongst the attendees.
