Adapted from H.G. Well's 1896 science fiction novel, the production focuses on the line between humanity and animality, as well as the role of the law within society. Directed by religious studies teacher Mr. Russ Kwitkowski, whose previous directorial credits include Dead Man Walking, The Nerd, Oliver Twist, and Frankenstein, this play also explores the reality and dangers of fundamentalism and what happens when a person attempts to play a false god. The show is co-directed by Mr. David Michaels and Ms. Kim Eggleston-Kraus returns as set designer. Featuring a cast of 20 thespians, including recent alumni and a skilled make-up and tech crew, the production is sure to thrill audiences in one of Hoban's scariest productions to date. |
To coincide with this production a "Fantastic Mask" competition took place among area grade schools. Future Hoban Knights were invited to create their own mask that features human-animal combinations. The design of the winning mask will be adapted to a live actor's face and will be featured in the production. The winner will be announced on Hoban.org.
Linking the living world and the creative world, Animal Care League members will be in the lobby before each of the shows with some of the animals that live at Hoban, as well as biofacts (animal bones and other materials).
