Lilac Festival & Mother's Day Concert
Bring your whole family and celebrate Mothers Day and the City of Rochester's 175th Anniversary Year at the 2009 Lilac Festival with the Rochester Chamber Orchestra and the Bach Childrens Chorus.
Everyone will enjoy Rochester Philharmonic concertmaster Juliana Athayde and oboist Erik Behr in J.S. Bachs double Concerto for Violin and Oboe. The Bach Childrens Chorus will present music by Schubert, Strauss, Fetler, and selections celebrating the City of Rochester's 175th Anniversary.
Juliana Athayde was appointed concertmaster of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in March 2005 and made her RPO debut in April 2006.
Erik Behr holds the principal oboe position with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Bach Childrens Chorus is western New Yorks most respected childrens classical music ensemble. The chorus appears regularly with the RPO, RCO, Mercury Opera Rochester and other area ensembles. The girls and boys in the group range in age from 8 to 16 and are known in Rochesters arts community as the best young singers in the area.
