Description
Los Angeles Electric 8 performs Bach, Shostakovich, Messiaen, Gabrieli. Taeggio, Kohl, Siegel and Kline (world premiere)

Los Angeles Electric 8, the world's only electric guitar chamber octet performs their final show for the season. This unique evening features a world premiere of Phil Kline's "96 Tears," written for eight sustaining electric guitars, a modern emulation of 16th century viol consorts. They will also perform selections from the "Well Tempered Clavier" by J.S. Bach,  "Octet, Op.11" by Dmitri Shostakovich, a selection from "Quartet for the End of Time" by Olivier Messiaen, Italian Renaissance pieces by Gabrieli and Taeggio, Indonesian gamelan styled, "Balinesa El Canto de los Changos" by Randall Kohl, and the ethereal "Domino Figures" by Wayne Siegel.

This show is not to be missed!

Praise for the Los Angeles Electric 8

"Very, very interesting." John Schneider, KPFK Global Village

"Remarkable flexibility, a sharp-eyed modern sound . . . It was hard to imagine the instruments, familiar hard-bodied guitars connected by wires to their amplifiers, could produce such delicate sounds." John Farrell, Pasadena Star News

"Wildly beautiful at the most unexpected times." Jon Worley, Aiding and Abetting Reviews

"A very good start in introducing electric guitars into the classical music milieu." Gerald Van Waes, Psyche Van Het Folk

"Extremely exciting . . . gives one the feeling of being on the ground floor of something fresh and new." Dave Lewis, All Music Guide

"Fans of guitar-based post rock music will definitely want to look into this." Aaron Coleman, Almost Cool Music Reviews
