After a three year hiatus, Lucid by Proxy returns with Save Me, Valerie Rachelle's modern re-imagining of Ibsen's Hedda Gabler.
Just returned from a European honeymoon, Hedda returns to her home state engulfed by boredom - bored by the cloying love of her intellectual husband, George, and the machinations of the other men that still vie for her affection. Her only real passion is controlling the fates of others, a suddenly dangerous pastime when novelist and recovering addict, Evan Lessing returns to town. He is chased by a local politician's wife, Thea Elvstead, who hopes to start a new life with Evan and comes to Hedda for aid and advice, unaware that Hedda and Evan have some history of their own.
Valerie Rachelle uses a soulful soundtrack and actor-driven movement pieces to help tell the story, layering them in with traditional theatrical storytelling to create an experience that connects the audience viscerally to Hedda's journey.
Note: Save Me contains harsh language, sexual situations, gun shots and loud noises, so may not be appropriate for all audiences.
