"Sperm Warfare" AND "Pomp and Circumstance"
"Eloquently expressed. . .Slick dialogue. . .So beguiling... Blake and Deborah's timing might be off, but Sperm Warfare's is perfect." Chloe Veltman, SF WEEKLY
"...Real emotional honesty...Nearly too well executed..." Jeff Smith, SF BAY AREA THEATRE CRITICS CIRCLE
"Rouda is a scissor sharp observer of the human condition." Alan Scofield, Reviewer MARIN INDEPENDENT JOURNAL
A fuller and deeper production of native San Francisco playwright David Rouda's dramatic comedy, Sperm WARFARE, is back for a second run June 29 through July 30 as part of a double bill with his new play, comedic legal drama ''Pomp and Circumstance.''
David Rouda and New York City's critically acclaimed Norman Siopis direct a cast of New York and Los Angeles veteran actors in these all new productions.
Set in the sperm sample room of an in-vitro fertility clinic, Sperm WARFARE takes a hard look at how the biological clock impacts male-female relationships in sometimes role-reversing ways. As a 39-year-old determined wife rubs her frustrated husband the wrong way and a sensuous young nurse makes matters worse, husband and wife are forced to define themselves anew.
Set in a law firm and a courtroom, POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE is the personal trial of a young attorney coming to terms with his retiring, successful and domineering lawyer father as they handle their first, and last, court trials. The play explores the boundaries between sex and love, civil and religious law, acting and reality, and parents and their children.
Both plays included in the admission price. Sperm Warfare opens for Pomp and Circumstance.
