A Heritage Chicken Tasting
An event hosted by Farmers Gastropub. Chickens provided by Providence Farm.
When: Tuesday, October 22, 2013
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Where: Farmers Gastropub
Address: 431 S. Jefferson Ave., Springfield, MO
Join us as we conduct a blind tasting of eight different heritage breed chickens, breeds whose qualities have long gone uncelebrated due to the industrialization of the meat chicken business. Participants will be given a score card and allowed to give their opinion on the relative merits of each breed, and afterward we will unveil the results!
Wes Hunter of Providence Farm will speak about the importance of preserving heritage breed chickens, the distinctiveness of the various breeds, as well as the rewards and struggles of raising and marketing these breeds found on very few commercial farms.
1st course: Farmers Chicken Noodle Soup
2nd course: Two flights of heritage breed chickens
3rd course: Fresh local salad
