Hello, Dolly! (MSA, Novato High School)
Hello, Dolly!

Marin School of the Arts Theatre Department performs the sensational landmark musical, Hello, Dolly!, directed by Rodney Franz, boasting a cast, crew and orchestra of seventy-five students. Set at the turn of the 20th century, Hello, Dolly! features the comic antics of two hayseed clerks on a wild spree in New York City, a pinchpenny geezer bound to woo a hat store owner, and a runaway niece who wants to win a dance contest. They comically blunder through mishaps and life changing events, under the watchful eye of the ever-charming, manipulating widow, Dolly Gallagher Levi. Scott DeTurk is Vocal Director, Dave Gregoric conducts the orchestra and Devin Sullivan choreographs.

With lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, Hello, Dolly!  is based on Thornton Wilder's fast and funny farce The Matchmaker. First produced on Broadway in 1964, Hello, Dolly! won ten Tonys, including Best Musical. The show's album Hello, Dolly! An Original Cast Recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. The show has become one of the most enduring musical hits, enjoying three Broadway revivals and international success. It was also made into a 1969 film starring Barbra Streisand that was nominated for seven Academy Awards. Louis Armstrong's recording of the title song knocked the Beatles off the charts to become number one.
Look forward to a delightful evening of hummable tunes, delightful dancing, and colorful characters.
