Infection Prevention and Control:2014 and Pain Management for the Dentist
Infection Prevention and Control 2014 will be presented by Kathy Eklund, RDH. The goal of an infection control program is to prevent health-care associated infections, injuries, and illnesses in health-care personnel.
Learning Objectives:
*Understand the basic concepts and foundational principles of "Best Practices"
*Select credible resources for best practices for infection prevention and control
*Develop and adapt best practices for site-specific clinical settings
*Describe strategies and identify tools for infection control program quality improvement 3 CEU's.
Pain Management for the Dentist will be presented by David A. Keith, BDS, DMD. This course is required biennially by the BORID. Dr. Keith will review the various causes of orofacial pain and the appropriate treatment strategies for each diagnosis. The use of narcotic and non-narcotic medications will be addressed.
Learning Objectives:
*Understand the diagnosis of orofacial pain conditions
*Discuss appropriate pharmacological management of acute and chronic pain
*Review individual pain management programs
*Identify patients at high risk of substance abuse
*Recognize drug tolerance and physical dependence 2 CEU's.
