Fleet Week "Lite" Cruise on the Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien
If the Fleet won't come to us, we'll go to them!
The SS Jeremiah O'Brien is a World War II Liberty ship named for an American Revolutionary War captain. One of only two fully functioning vessels of its kind, the O'Brien played a key role in the armada that stormed Normandy on D-Day. Today it "floats" as a living museum and a National Historic Landmark. Moored in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf at Pier 45, this premier San Francisco attraction served as an Official Venue of the 34th America's Cup, and hosts unique private events and San Francisco Bay cruises.
Our 2013 Fleet Week Cruise will take place on October 12 from 10am until 2pm. The O'Brien will embark on a scenic swing around Alcatraz Island, under the Golden Gate Bridge, along the San Francisco waterfront, over to Alameda for a view of the Maritime Administration Ready Reserve Fleet, and under the new Bay Bridge span. Cruise passengers will enjoy live musical entertainment by the Natural Gas Jazz Band, hot dogs, deli sandwiches, salads and dessert for purchase, and complimentary non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages (for passengers 21 years-old and over). Guests will also enjoy full ship access -- including museum, engine room, gift shop, officers quarters and more.
Boarding begins at 9am, and the O'Brien will leave promptly at 10am. Tickets are $125 for all passengers.
Please note that due to the Federal Government sequester, this year there is no Air Show or Navy Parade of Ships as in past Fleet Week celebrations. Nevertheless, the SS Jeremiah O'Brien, National Liberty Ship Memorial, Inc., and Golden Gate Arena wouldn't miss a chance to celebrate the importance of this annual event.
