EVENING OF ECSTATIC CHANT WITH JAI UTTAL, GAURA VANI AND FRIENDS TIME AND LOCATION: Saturday, November 9 6:30 pm Lobby Doors Open, Registration Opens, Kirtan Merchandise for Sale 7 pm Concert Doors Open in church sanctuary 7:30 - 9:30 pm Concert Oneness-Family School, located St. John's Episcopal Church Norwood 6701 Wisconsin Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD Entrance to the event is on West Street (the back of the church, one block east of Wisconsin, via the covered walkway). METRO AND PARKING: Bethesda Metro Station (Red Line): 10-minute walk south on Wisconsin Avenue; cross Wisconsin to the east side and cut through the parking lot just before Bradley Blvd to reach the event entrance (covered walkway on West Street, one block west of Wisconsin). Paid Parking: Large Public Lot just east of Wisconsin Ave runs from Walsh St. to Leland St. to Willow Lane, a 5-10 minute walk from the school/church (bring plenty of quarters). You may also pay to park across the street from the church (CVS) in the underground parking lot accessed off Bradley Blvd; go west on Bradley from Wisconsin, take immediate right into the parking lot. TICKETS AT THE DOOR: Tickets are available at the door for $30 or $10 for children age 9-17 or anyone on low income. Cash or check only. Kids 8 and under attend free. Kirtan! Evening of Ecstatic Chant with Jai Uttal, Gaura Vani and Friends

Grammy-nominated Jai Uttal is a pioneer in the world music community with his eclectic "East meets West" sound. A childhood in New York City's music scene gave way to studies with the legendary musician Ravi Shankar and pilgrimages to India, singing ancient call-and-response kirtan in the temples of the revered saint Neem Karoli Baba. He now makes music to unite hearts and cultures and bring peace. Originating in devotional Bhakti yoga, his concerts of kirtan create spiritual connection and compassionate community. Jai Uttal's recordings include "Queen of Hearts", "Kirtan Kids", "Shiva Station" and "Mondo Rama".

Kirtan artist Gaura Vani learned sacred music in a temple school in Vrindavan, India. Chanting ancient prayers in Sanskrit and Bengali and playing harmonium and mrdanga, he shares the magic he received there with audiences around the world.

Kirtan: An Evening of Ecstatic Chant will lift the spirit and inspire dancing and chanting with the artists. This sacred music form is for all people: there are no experts, no beginners, and the practice itself guides us home to ourselves and into a sense of divine presence or simply joy.

Presented by Grace Productions, this evening concert is offered in partnership with the Oneness-Family School, Flow Yoga, Willow Street Yoga, Circle Yoga, Lil Omm Yoga and Beloved Yoga.

Kids 8 and under attend Evening Kirtan free with parental supervision.
