Our touring production is a tantalizing examination of the rift between the haves and have-nots. Our modernization of the Moliere play focuses on Don Juan as a modern day 1% trust-fund baby (much like those on display at Rich Kids of Instigram) living a life of selfish comfort and ease. He's a character spoiled by privilege and without empathy; who only hopes to spend the rest of his life in frivolous pursuit of the next pleasure. When his father cuts him off, Don Juan is sent into a tailspin, his selfishness, greed, and knack for depravity spiral out of control destroying the stability of those around him, who lack the means to survive such a malignant squall.
The Bricklayers' production of Don Juan comically focuses on the trickle down disparity between the American classes and the next generation's errant disregard for fellow man, by posing the question:
Is the behavior of Don Juan acceptable, and if not, HOW DO WE STOP IT? (a question directly answered by the audience themselves at the end of every performance.)
