DANSE LUMIERE PRESENTS "DANCE ON CENTER"
The series begins with an open rehearsal of new dance and theater works by Kathryn Roszak and Lissa Resnick.
In "About the Rite," a work which celebrates the 100th anniversary of "The Rite of Spring," dancers portray Nijinsky, Stravinsky, and audience members who rioted at the infamous premiere.
"Schubertiana," from Danse Lumière's recent premiere of "Secrets on the Way," is inspired by the poetry of Tomas Tranströmer. Dancers Jaya Ananda, Blythe Berg, Ramzi Jneid, Terrin Kelly, Gemiah Kurzfeld, Linnea Snyderman, and Nicole Huei-tze Wong perform alongside actor Earll Kingston, shedding new light on the poetry of Tranströmer.
Excerpts from Roszak's play, "Saddest Girl in the World," are also included in the program.
Lissa Resnick presents "Golden Glow," a work-in-progress that explores the spiritual landscape of our final days; a human's last expressive burst.
