Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe stands alone in the flickering darkness of his mind, trying desperately to convince himself -- and us -- that he's not mad. The spell he weaves brings us a highly theatrical adaptation of four tales Poe himself considered his best: "The Raven," "The Fall of the House of Usher," "Silence," and "The Tell-Tale Heart." Enter the world of Poe and check your heartbeat at the door.

About Edgar Allan Poe and his work:

The name Poe brings to mind images of murderers and madmen, premature burials, and mysterious birds. His works have been in print since 1827 and include literary classics brought to life at ColorBox Theatre's production of "Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe." This versatile writer's works includes short stories, poetry, a novel, a textbook, a book of scientific theory, and hundreds of essays and book reviews. He is widely acknowledged as the inventor of the modern detective story and an innovator in the science fiction genre, but he made his living as America's first great literary critic and theoretician. Poe's reputation today rests primarily on his tales of terror as well as on his haunting lyric poetry.

ColorBox Theatre's Mission Statement:

ColorBox Theatre is a new performing arts company dedicated to creating a participatory environment that encourages public involvement in the arts and producing live theatrical entertainment that will enrich the cultural depth and education of the community at large.  Additionally, ColorBox Theatre commits to serve as a platform for emerging artists to launch their professional theatre career.
