Postcard Plays

The Empty Space Theatre

This is a high-energy special event, produced in conjunction with cutting-edge publication Play: A Journal of Plays, encouraging both artists and audiences to explore new strategies of playmaking. Six nationally recognized playwrights write plays the size of a postcard. Six local theater companies then stage these 4' by 6' plays in a single evening. Audience members can follow along on their own copies of the gorgeous postcards, which reimagine the play script as a code waiting to be cracked.

Co-edited by Empty Space playwright-in-residence Jordan Harrison, Play: A Journal of Plays has featured such Obie-winning theater artists as Ping Chong, Lisa D'Amour and Katie Pearl, W. David Hancock, Cynthia Hopkins, and Mac Wellman.
