"SRICHAKRA" and "BELLS and ANKLETS" By Soorya Dance Company
Soorya Performing Arts, Los Angeles presents a double bill "BELLS and ANKLETS" and "SRICHAKRA" dance features to raise money for SRI VAISHNAVA SEVA SAMITHI a non governmental organization in Bangalore.
To celebrate the week of NAVARATHRI - the festival of Mother Goddess Durga, Sushma Mohan will present SRICHAKRA The Holy Geometry.
Srichakra mandala is regarded as the body of the universal mother Lalitha Tripura Sundari, meaning - the transcendental beauty of the three worlds. The Srichakra signifies the play of cosmic consciousness in the acts of creation, preservation and dissolution of the universe; the play of individual consciousness in the three states of a human being, controlled by the mind and the five senses which are attached to or repulsed by life. Srichakra uses the traditional Bharathanatyam technique in a refreshing approach. The angles and the shapes that form the holy geometrical figure are presented in a spellbinding formations by the Soorya Dancers.
"BELLS and ANKLETS" dance presentation features students of Soorya Dance Company Los Angeles presenting traditional Bharathanatyam numbers.
The evening will also feature Guru Prasanna Kasthuri, in DHUN an electrifying performance of foot work to the beats Indian drums - Tabla & Mrudangam in Kathak and Bharathanatyam dance styles
