Gateway Men's Chorus 2013-2014 Season Tickets
The 2013-2014 season is comprised of three major concerts that are destined to captivate audiences, exploring holiday nostalgia, the early struggles of the LGBT civil rights movement and their ongoing resonance today, and a look back at the decade that defined modern pop culture.
Yule Tube, presented December 13-14 2013, opens the season at the Edison Theatre. Audiences will be treated to a trip down memory lane as GMC reminisces on the holiday movies and television specials that shaped our youths and then invites the audience to its own holiday special, complete with guest stars, commercials and unexpected holiday hijinks. The Chorus enchants with such songs as "White Christmas" and "All I Want for Christmas is You" as well as some fun parodies of recent pop music.
In March and April, the Chorus joins forces with Heartland Men's Chorus for concerts in Kansas City (March 29-30, at the Folly Theater), Columbia (date and location to be announced), and the culmination in Saint Louis for a one-night show at the 560 Music Centre on April 5th. The two choruses will jointly present the 11-song oratorio I Am Harvey Milk, written by Broadway composer Andrew Lippa (the Tony Award-nominated composer of The Addams Family and The Wild Party). Co-commissioned by five GALA Choruses, this song cycle will make its Midwest debut after enjoying sold-out performances in San Francisco and Atlanta.
The season culminates on June 13th & 14th at the Edison Theatre when the Chorus presents The 80's Show! In a decade where the fashions and culture changed with each passing minute, the music was electric, eclectic, and every bit as eccentric and unpredictable. GMC revisits several of our favorite tunes from the decade of our founding, including favorites from such artists as Cyndi Lauper, John Cougar Mellencamp, Michael Jackson, and Wham.
