| Description |
16 teams. 1 winner. Who will it be?
New York City's hottest improv and sketch teams compete against each other to see who is the best of the best. Improv teams will do improv AND sketch, sketch teams will do sketch AND improv, and all teams will try their hand at the form of sketchprov, using the Second City routine called "The Pad." The team comes out onstage, gets suggestions from the audience for locations, activities, character motivations and so forth, jots them down on a pad (hence the name!), then goes backstage while another group is performing a scene. Backstage, the team plans out the basic beats of a sketch, then returns to the stage to improvise the story for which they've already created the main beats.
In each slot, teams will compete to produce a winner, which will then advance to the next round.
This performance: Sketch Semifinals featuring sketch comedy and improv from three of the following teams: Pembroke and Lu, H & M, The Impending Moustache, Audience of Two, Finger, and Secret Hospital!
The teams who perform will be the teams who won Sketch Preliminaries A, B, and C.
