Community Workshop Opportunity - Theater of the Oppressed October 5, 2013 11 am to 2 pm|
Yadira will conduct a 3 hour workshop on the Theater of the Oppressed that was developed by Brazilian theatre practitioner Augusto Boal in the 1960s.
The workshop will present Boal's technique using physical images and movement as a form of vocabulary through which participants can begin to express personal experiences related to social/political themes. The participants will experience an interactive, physical, and playful tool used to investigate situations in which we are denied our basic rights, personally and collectively.
Using the physical bodies as the foundation for story telling and creating theatrical representations of personal realities that serve as catalysts for dialogue, promoting social and political change.
No theatre experience required.
Wear comfortable clothing. Bring some bottled water and a snack.
Sign up here to register for the workshop. Space is limited to 25 participants. You may also pay your fee in person the day of the event if you arrive 15 minutes early at 10:45 am
This is a charitable contribution based workshop with a suggested minimum charitable contribution of $20. Consider charitably contributing at a $25 - $40 level.
All charitable contributions go directly to Yadira to fund her work and performances to underserved communities along the border.
