Manitoga Autumn Cocktail
Enjoy a percussive crossroads of music & nature as Jeff Haynes invites musicians from his vast network of multi-generational musicians to share nature's stage at Manitoga, the modernist home, studio and woodland garden of mid-century designer Russel Wright (1904-1976).
Featuring Native American drumming, flute, vocals and Jeff's world of percussion. Artists include Casely Erdman, Joan Henry and Julie Harris. Light fare and drinks served on Dragon Rock's terrace at Manitoga.
Free for Manitoga members. $20 for non-members. Reservations required. All ages welcome. Space is limited!
Please park at the public entrance at 584 Route 9D and walk the Quarry Pond path up to the house and studio. Rain or shine. Please wear walking shoes.
About Jeff Haynes:
Jeff Haynes is a Grammy award winning, world-renowned percussionist who takes percussion beyond "technique" and "tradition" moving effortlessly from varied and subtle textures in recorded and stage performances.
Jeff has toured and recorded extensively with Cassandra Wilson for the past 15 years and has toured with the Pat Metheny Group, Al Jarreau, Boney James, Lizz Wright , Harry Belafonte, Dionne Farris and Peabo Bryson. His talent is widely reflected in over one hundred CDs with recording credits with prominent names ranging from R&B to Jazz to World Beat to New Age. His most recent recording project is 'Pete Seeger: The Storm King' produced with Pete Seeger and Hachette Audio. The CD features a collection of stories, narratives and poems spoken by Pete Seeger set to multi-genre music from around the world.
