Missouri Chamber Music Festival presents - The Calyx Piano Trio
The Missouri Chamber Music Festival (MOCM) presents a performance by the acclaimed Calyx Piano Trio at the Kranzberg Arts Center on Thursday, October 17, 2013.
The Calyx Piano Trio: Nina Ferrigno (piano), Catherine French (violin), Jennifer Lucht (cello) will perform masterworks of the trio literature: Beethoven Trio No. 6 in E-flat Major, Op. 70, No.2 Mendelssohn Trio No. 1 in D Minor, Op. 49, and Tapestries by Richard Festinger. The Missouri Chamber Music Festival, whose critically acclaimed June Festival in Webster Groves has quickly become an annual highlight of the St. Louis arts scene, presents this, its first concert in Grand Center during the fall/winter season, to benefit the 2014 MOCM Festival Season.
The Kranzberg Arts Center Studio Performance space is the location of the concert and offers an intimate setting for a dynamic performance by the Calyx Piano Trio. This performance is part of a United States tour by the Calyx Trio which has included performances on the East Coast from Massachusetts to North Carolina and concludes in California on the Morrison Artist Series of San Francisco State University.
MOCM Festival Co-Director and St. Louis Symphony Orchestra principal clarinet Scott Andrews says "this is a great opportunity for MOCM to come into the city and present one of our high quality performances in the heart of St. Louis' arts district. We are looking forward to the collaboration with the Kranzberg Center and to introducing ourselves to Grand Center audiences. Presenting the Calyx Trio in this way is a real opportunity for the Festival."
In performances described as "...perfectly attuned, perfectly delightful..." (St. Louis Post Dispatch), the Calyx Piano Trio never fails to thrill audiences with their musical partnership, expressive ensemble playing, and brilliant virtuosity. These bright, accomplished musicians focus their programming on repertoire that juxtaposes classical masterworks with fresh pieces by living composers.
