Real Change Economic Justice Film Series

Real Change exists to provide opportunity and a voice for low-income and homeless people while taking action for economic justice. The Real Change Economic Justice Film Series features recent documentary films that tell the stories of our times and inspire audience members to act. Each film is FREE and will be followed by an interactive program.

AMERICAN WINTER: Saturday, November 9th, 2PM

Produced and directed by Emmy award-winning filmmakers, Joe and Harry Gantz, AMERICAN WINTER is a documentary feature film that follows the personal stories of families in the Northwest struggling in the aftermath of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.  

Parking in the Central Library garage will be available for the regular weekend rate of $6.

WE'RE NOT BROKE: Sunday, December 15th, 12PM

WE'RE NOT BROKE, from Onshore Productions, tells the story of U.S. corporations dodging billions of dollars in income tax, and how seven fed-up Americans take their frustration to the street, vowing to make the corporations pay their fair share.

AS GOES JANESVILE: Sunday, January 19th, 12PM

A documentary from 371 Productions, AS GOES JANESVILLE catapults viewers to the front lines of America's debate over the future of our middle class and unions in the heartland state of Wisconsin.

A PLACE AT THE TABLE: Sunday, February 16th, 12PM

50 million Americans - 1 in 4 children - don't know where their next meal is coming from. A PLACE AT THE TABLE tells the powerful stories of three such Americans and shows how the issue could be solved through public policy.

SHIFT CHANGE: Sunday, March 16th, 12PM

SHIFT CHANGE, by veteran award-winning filmmakers Melissa Young and Mark Dworkin, tells the little known stories of employee-owned businesses that compete successfully in today's economy while providing secure, dignified jobs in democratic workplaces.
