Hell's Half Mile - TALL AS A BAOBAB TREE
TALL AS A BAOBAB TREE When her brother injures himself, Coumba must assert herself to stop her father from marrying-off her younger sister instead of allowing her to finish her education. This superbly shot and acted drama, set in a remote Senegalese village, examines one's responsibilities to culture and to family weighed against the greater opportunities offered by the wider modern world. Not just a family drama, the film is a deep allegory for such conflicts across civilizations.
