Slow by Design: Woodcraft
Program Dates: January 24-26

Each workshop is weekend-long, beginning Friday evening with a family-style dinner, and concluding Sunday afternoon. Lodging available; meals included.

Mark your calendars for a series of weekend workshops exploring the concept of "slow" as a guiding principle to creative practice. Through the lenses of woodcraft, fashion, and food, each workshop provides discussion on the historical and local context of the movement, presentations by leading contemporary practitioners, and hands-on activities to build individual skills.

Woodcraft:
Work alongside master woodworkers to learn both traditional and emerging woodcraft techniques while exploring current industry trends, including "from the forest up" production, repurposing, and the return of the artisan-driven market.

ACCOMMODATIONS
If you choose to stay onsite, you'll stay in a private room in one of our historic officers' houses that now serve as residences for our Artist programs. Start and end your days on the porch where the ocean and foghorns are the only sounds to accompany your conversations.

SHARED MEALS
Our chef prepares delicious, locally sourced meals in our historic Mess Hall. Some of your best work will happen at the dinner table where you will get to know each other, share stories, and exchange ideas.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Workshops are thematic intensives that use the Marin Headlands as a starting place for creative exploration. Led by exceptional artists and thinkers, these project-based sessions provide participants with focused, residency-like learning opportunities.
