Kearny Street Workshop's APAture 2013
After an extended hiatus, Kearny Street Workshop's APAture returns to present and examine the Bay Area's brightest emerging Asian Pacific American talent in a month-long multidisciplinary arts festival.

SCHEDULE:

*FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 6-9PM @ The New Parkway, Oakland | FILM
Join us for an evening of live and animated film shorts by a new breed of independent filmmakers. Screenings will be followed by audience Q+A.

*SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 7PM-12AM @ Arc Studios & Gallery, SF | VISUAL ART
Our official opening party and artists reception will be chock-full of stunning art, delicious food, live performances, and special surprises. FREE

*SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 12-3PM @ Arc Studios & Gallery, SF | VISUAL ART
Spend an afternoon in intimate conversation with our gallery artists about the processes and inspiration behind their work. FREE

*FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, 7-10PM @ 50 Mason Social House, SF | LITERATURE
Hear from some of the most promising local writers reading from a range of literary genres. Enjoy a pint while playing a game of pub-style trivia. STRICTLY 21+

*SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19, 11AM-5PM @ Cartoon Art Museum, SF | COMIX & ZINES
Get into the DIY spirit at our one-day expo featuring a full lineup of artist tables, crafts, workshops, screenings, and a ton of interactive fun. $5 presale, $7 at the door

*SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20, 3-6PM @ Bindlestiff Studio, SF | PERFORMANCE ART
From modern dance to sketch comedy to theater and more, explore the gamut of performance art.

*FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25, 8PM-1AM @ SUB-Mission Gallery, SF | MUSIC
Hip Hop, Operatic Pop, Indie Rock, Noise, Metal, and Jazz come together on stage for one night only.

*SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 6-9PM @ SomaR Bar, Oakland | CLOSING PARTY

ABOUT KEARNY STREET WORKSHOP: Founded in 1972, during the height of the Asian American Movement, Kearny Street Workshop (KSW) is the oldest Asian Pacific American multidisciplinary arts organization in the country. For the past 41 years, KSW has nurtured creative spirit, offered an important platform for new voices to be heard, and connected artists with community. Our mission is to present, produce, and promote art that empowers Asian Pacific American communities, with the ultimate vision of a more just society that fully incorporates our historical roots, cultural values, and contemporary issues.
