THE CAUSE Photographer Annie Marie Musselman has been given a rare opportunity to travel to Borneo with writer Hillary Rosner (NY Times, Popular Science) to document the critical work being done at the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Sanctuary. The project will be featured in Audubon Magazine. In just the last two decades, THE ORANGUTAN POPULATION HAS BEEN DECIMATED BY 86%. Without immediate help, they will be extinct in less than 10 years. Lone Droscher Nielson stood up to stop this catastrophe. Nine years ago she started the Nyaru Menteng Rehabilitation Center in Borneo on a shoestring budget. Today it is the largest primate project on the planet with nearly 700 orangutans and a staff of over 150. She works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and release orangutans; knowing that if she stops, they will be lost forever. With this massive undertaking, there is massive cost. And yet she receives no funding from the Indonesian government and the Sanctuary is always on the precipice of bankruptcy. We need your support to raise funds for travel and production expenses. Help the orangutans tell their story!
