Pierced to the Heart: Fathers, Sons, Mothers, Daughters
The relationships of parents to their children are explored with compelling music and texts. The program's centerpiece is a complete performance of Giacomo Carissimi's moving oratorio "Jephte" and the premiere of John David Ernest's "My Papa's Waltz" (jointly commissioned by Choral Arts and the Whitman College Commissioning Project). Other pieces include "Motherless Child" arranged by Craig Hella Johnson, Palestrina's "Stabat Mater," and "When David Heard" by Eric Whitacre.
