Like A Storm

Like A Storm signal a new horizon for hard rock. Brothers Chris, Matt, and Kent Brooks blast, bruise, and bludgeon with rock 'n' roll that's meant to be blared loud and live.

In 2005, Chris, Matt, and Kent embarked for North America from their native New Zealand to take their music to the world. Finding a home base in Vancouver and quickly developing a strong local following, the band caught the ear of multi-platinum producer/mixer/engineer Mike Plotnikoff (Three Days Grace/Seether/Papa Roach/Buckcherry). With Plotnikoff and his producing partner Igor Khoroshev at the helm, Like A Storm recorded their 2009 offering, "The End of The Beginning" in Los Angeles, CA.

While touring in support of their debut with powerhouse acts such as Alter Bridge, Shinedown, Creed, Staind, Puddle of Mudd, Drowning Pool, Helmet and Skillet, Like A Storm proved themselves a veritable sonic force of nature on stage. Selling over 3000 CDs in their first 3 weeks of touring, the overwhelming response from crowds saw their record enter the Billboard New Artist Charts at #61 from tour sales alone.

The band and their music was also well received by their peers. Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge/Creed) and Brent Smith (Shinedown) took Like A Storm out on tour after hearing their music, and Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy described them in a recent interview as "total pros with great songs and great attitudes" going on to say, "...those guys are gonna do well". Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd even invited Chris up on stage to sing a cover of ACDC's "TNT" on their most recent tour together.

"Our sound really evolved out on the road", says Chris. "We kept the heavy riffs and melodies, but added this new live aggression. After two years of playing every night, we really wanted to capture the energy of our live show in the studio. The bands we toured with played like their lives depended on it, and that really inspired us."

With this new energy and inspiration, the band entered the studio in early 2011 to cut and co-produce four new tracks: "Never Surrender," "New Life," "One Step From Hell," and "What's Wrong With Me (Is You)."

"Never Surrender," mixed by Randy Staub (Metallica, Alice in Chains) demonstrates the band's aggressive sound - exploding out of the gate with a jackhammer riff and an incendiary solo break. "That song means so much to us," Chris reveals. "It's probably the most personal track we've written. We moved here from the other side of the world to do this, and along the way you come up against so many things that seem impossible. We wrote the song about never giving up, always believing in yourself, and doing whatever it takes to get where you want to be."

The fans will no doubt respond to the message, just like they did to the band's first single, "Chemical Infatuation", which charted at #43 on U.S Active Rock Radio. Since hitting the road in 2009, Like A Storm has built a diehard following everywhere. "We've been blown away by how loyal and supportive our fans are," says Chris, "They've become our family out on the road. Its been incredible seeing so many people at the shows with Like A Storm tattoos, and its awesome having such a personal relationship with them."

Dead Fish Handshake

When you've shared the bill with national music acts like Collective Soul, Ed Kowalczyk (Live), Pop Evil, Sponge, Hurt, and Queensryche, you know you've got an impressive sound. But Dead Fish Handshake isn't stopping there.

When the four piece rock group crafted their latest album, "The Sixes," they turned to Sevendust's Clint Lowery to elevate their sound. The end product shows why they've been moving alongside with these rock veterans.

The band's sophomore EP is soaked in pure rock 'n' roll, dripping with a raw intensity that quickly captivates listeners. The vocals wear a rough edge (Matthew Paul), which is both showcased and balanced by creative and catchy melodies. Guitar turns (Rob Ferreira) strike with an atmospheric feel that's high energy instead of ambient, a rare quality that's previously emerged in bands like Nine Inch Nails and U2. They're rounded out by the partnership of clean, consistent bass work (Darren Furman) and driving, steady drum lines (Matt Biehl). These ingredients have positioned them dead center of the rock radio dial.
Dead Fish Handshake's unadulterated rock 'n' roll sound is a result of their no bells-and-whistles approach.

One Hundred Thousand

For over a year and a half, OneHundredThousand crafted and honed their musical vision before finally taking it to the stage. The result is a polished, vibrant and cathartic union of shining harmonies, rhythmic turns and potent riffs, experienced through vast digital atmospheres.

The band was formed in early 2011 by then-guitar duo Kurt Wubbenhorst and Alex Goldenthal. With the objective of creating unique, rhythmically complex and melodic rock music, the two began composing and searching for other musicians to round out a proper collective.

In April of 2011, they welcomed bassist Andrew Magnotta and in July they found vocalist Ronnie Cinnella after an exhaustive, several month-long search for a lead singer. The group continued writing and practicing over the next 16 months, reconciling influences from their mutual alternative/progressive rock and metal heroes into music and lyrics for their debut offering.

After Kurt switched from guitar to drums, the band performed on Oct. 12, 2012, within the artistically fertile confines of Architekt Music in Butler, NJ. OneHundredThousand entered Architekt's recording studio approximately six weeks later to begin recording their first release, a still untitled full-length album, with the help of Sevendust/Dark New Day/Call Me No One guitarist and vocalist Clint Lowery, who co-produced vocals with the quartet.

The band is currently looking for a second guitarist to complete their live line-up and plans to release their debut album in 2013. OneHundredThousand will be performing in the NY/NJ area and around the country throughout the year.
