The Drowsy Chaperone
A middle-aged man escapes the doldrums of his life by sharing his love of musical theatre, particularly his favorite musical from the 1920's, "The Drowsy Chaperone". As he sits in his chair and plays the record of the show for the audience, the musical itself comes to life, transforming his cramped NYC studio apartment into a palatial estate, filled with Broadway stars, nervous newlyweds, disguised gangsters, an inept ladies man, and, of course, a drowsy chaperone. Join us as SMHS Drama teacher Brad Friedman plays the Man in the Chair, surrounded by a talented array of singing, dancing and comedic students, in this joyful, tribute to the Golden Age of Musicals.
Directed by Virginia Musante, musical direction by Attilio Tribuzi, choreography by Robyn Tribuzi.
