The EarthBeats Festival
This year's EarthBeats Festival is a collaboration between visual artists, musicians, dancers, and some of the most powerful voices of our community; poets will inspire; storytellers will educate; and live bands will simply amaze. With so much going on EBFEST2013 will be a two-day event broken into a mini-series.

Friday, September 13- 6:30 p.m. - The Birdhouse (800 N. Fourth Ave.)
Kick off the weekend with a party at The Birdhouse featuring performances by Cocktail Napkin Chronicles, a Slam Poetry Competition, homemade food, drinks, and a drum circle hosted by Master drummer Obayana - Babba of The City!
Saturday, September 14- 1-4 p.m.- SOCM Office (2507 Mineral Springs Ave.)
Interested in learning how to improve your rhythm? Some of Knoxville's best artists will be hosting workshops (suitable for all ages) on drumming, spoken word poetry, and more. Workshops will be facilitated by Bateria Appalachia, Appalachian Flow Arts, and Black Atticus. Linda Parris-Bailey will be sharing a brief lecture on 'The Rhythm of Story'; Food and drinks (BBQ Grill style) are available for purchase as well as other activities for kids!
Saturday, September 14 - 7 p.m. - 3 a.m.- Blackstock Exchange (940 Blackstock Ave.)
EARTHBEATS MAIN EVENT
Get ready for Full Sets from the Natti Love Joys, Aftah Party, The Theorizt, Atlanta-based drummer Sarah Wilson, and DJ Wigs. Drum Solos from Sarah Wilson and Obayana (also called the Stage Terrorist). Performances by the winners of Friday's Poetry Slam competition and the Online Beats competition. Hosted by the talented poet Rhea Sunshine! Other fun things going on include face painting, a mini car club and stereo show, food, and drinks.
