Krewe de Kinque Bal Masque XVII
Experience the true spirit of Mardi Gras with San Francisco's Krewe de Kinque charitable Mardi Gras club! Our Bal Masque XVII, with the theme "Diners, Divas & Dives" will be held at The Café (2369 Market Street at Castro) on Saturday, March 7, 2020, 6pm to 9:30pm. KDK King & Queen XVI Aja Monet-Ashton & Kelly Rose will reign over an exciting night of wild costumes, outrageous performances, regal Kings & Queens, & sexy shenanigans by the West Coast's authentic krewe!

Kicking off the festivities as Grand Marshal and performing at the masked ball will be Renée Lubin, the local actor who performed for 33 years in the longest-running musical in the world, Beach Blanket Babylon. The campy show known for elaborate costumes, huge hats and wigs, and skits exploiting politics and pop culture, recently ended its 45-year run at Club Fugazi in San Franciscos North Beach district. Directed by Kenny Mazlow and created by the late Steve Silver, the hilarious show was enjoyed by 6.5 million people.

In her acceptance of the honor Lubin stated, I am thrilled and tickled to be a part of this wonderful fundraiser. The LGBTQ community has always been a supportive force and Im honored to be involved with great people who selflessly continue to give back. Members of the Beach Blanket Babylon family will be in the house. Its going to be fabulous! After she is sashed as Grand Marshal at the Bal Masque, shell be joined by fellow former cast members for a special tribute, and later perform as the headliner of the evening with accompanist Dr. Dee Spencer.

Were thrilled to partner with The Café again after their stunning remodel. Masked ball guests will experience a large dancefloor and elevated stage, state of the art lighting effects and sound, multiple huge media screens throughout the club, confetti canons & fog machines, and huge bar & restrooms.
