Woven Green is an award-winning band from Sterling Virginia that has been active throughout the Mid-Atlantic region since 2009. Woven Green's music crosses genres between rock, world, funk, and acoustic jam. Captivating female vocals in the style of Grace Slick, soaring electric guitars and violin (Led zeppelin meets Mahavishnu Orchestra), sweet vocal harmonies, and a powerhouse rhythm section often compared to Rush. The band has received high acclaim from the Songwriters Association of Washington (SAW) and the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). Richard White, board member of SAW says of Woven Green, "if ever a group deserved a wider audience, a deeper look, fame and fortune, this is the one. I urge you to seek out one of their upcoming live shows, than prepare for an outstanding performance. "
Woven Green released their debut EP in November of 2009. The 4 song CD was immediately noticed among the Washington Area Music scene and was nominated for a Washington Area Music Award ("WAMMIE") in the pop-rock category. Woven Green was also awarded first prize for the Relix Magazine Jam Off Competition for their song "Sixth Sun" and is featured on the Relix CD sampler in the November 2010 issue. The song was also awarded honorable mention in the 27th Annual Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest. Additionally, the band received an award for their song "Between Worlds" in March 2010 for Mike Pender's Bandwars Competition.
Woven Green's music and philosophy is right on time in helping to empower listeners to create a more spiritually connected and earth-conscious reality. At a time when humanity is at the threshold of choosing to either self-destruct or create something beautiful, Woven Green emerges as a beacon of light, shining much needed hope on the resilience of the human spirit. This relevant message is met with serious songwriting skill and a talented line-up of musicians that have created a truly unique blend of pop/rock/folk/fusion that is not to be missed.
