Shabbat Expression and Book Festival Kick-Off Saturday, November 2, 3:30pm-6pm
Join us for the kick-off of the 8th Annual Northern Virginia Jewish Book Festival engage in a variety of free workshops focused on self-expression and the values of education and literacy. We'll then come together as a community for a special Havdallah service. Visit jccnvarts.org for information on the workshops, presenters, schedule, etc.
Featuring author David Ebenbach. The Artist's Torah is an uplifting and down-to-earth guide to creativity and the creative life as seen through a Jewish spiritual lens, meant to brighten the creative spark that's inside all of us. David will lead a workshop (3:30-4:15pm) that explores the beginnings of human creativity in the Garden of Eden story, followed by some free-writing/free-doodling by participants.
The Artist's Torah is wide open to longtime artists and first-time dabblers, to people of every religious background (or none), and to every creative medium. In this book, you'll find a year-long cycle of weekly meditations on a life lived artistically, grounded in ancient Jewish wisdom and the wisdom of artists from the past and present, meditations you can apply to your own life and work.
