826michigan Presents "Very Confident Nonsense" with Toby Barlow!
We hate it when people tell us about their dreams (I had a very good one about ghosts and hell holes last night) and yet we read volumes of utter nonsense and even recommend it to our friends. What is the difference? This workshop will explore how we make the merely imaginary into the absolutely compelling. We will also discuss why everything everyone ever told you is probably wrong.
Toby Barlow is the author of Babayaga and Sharp Teeth. The latter was an Alex Award Winner in the horror category (though according to his mother it's actually not a horror book.) He has been published in The New York Times and Salon. He lives in downtown Detroit.
Reserve your spot in "Very Confident Nonsense" for $25, or take advantage of our special Bring-a-Friend discount and reserve two for $40! This workshop will feature baked goods provided by Zingerman's Deli. Proceeds from the How To Write Like I Do series benefit local nonprofit 826michigan.
826michigan is a nonprofit organization serving 2,500 students in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Detroit with free creative writing and tutoring programs. To learn more about 826michigan and its volunteer-driven services, please visit www.826michigan.org or call (734) 761-3463.
