Description
Arena Theater proudly announces Happy Birthday, Point Arena, a revue written and directed by Sita Milchev, to be presented at a performance benefiting the Arena Theater Retire-the-Mortgage campaign. The revue commemorates the centennial of the city of Point Arena, incorporated in 1908.

Writer/director Sita Milchev describes the performance as "a history show with music." The show features highlights from the history of Point Arena together with the popular music of each era of the last century. The historical background will be enhanced with information on the broader historical and social developments of each decade. The show will feature favorite local chanteuses Milchev and Gloria Wood, with Brendan Mobert, Mike Turner, Davina Allen and Elise Allen. They will be accompanied by Don Krieger on the keyboard. The evening is planned to provide a delightful juxtaposition of music, fun, and historic background on the last century of the region. The theaters concessions stand and beer and wine bar will be open for the event.

The Arena Theater Retire the Mortgage campaign began in February 2008 with the goal of retiring the theaters $176,000 mortgage in three to five years. Through the generosity of local donors and the Payne Fund, which helped launch the campaign with a $10,000 grant, the mortgage has been reduced to $153,000 in seven months.
