We're singing a new tune here at The Historic Old Church. For the first time in our 45-year history, we are developing our own music education programs for youth. Bringing music to the community has been a core focus since the first days this building opened as a unique gathering space. We've hosted free sack lunch concerts every Wednesday here since 1968. This program has grown from just a handful of talented musicians to a long backlog of renowned and new performers.
Our new outreach programs are targeted to bring culture to low-income youth. Your support helps The Historic Old Church sponsor the following programs:
Little Ears, our free monthly concert, provides early exposure to the arts
Classics 4 Kids fuses live orchestra performances with beloved children's stories
Ethos and Bravo Youth Orchestra collaborations promote youth music education
YMCA/Market Street Child Development Center scholarship program
Student recitals from beginners to university graduates
Joining us for this wonderful evening is 45th Parallel. Founded in 2009, 45th Parallel produces and presents chamber music concerts featuring some of the most exciting musicians of the Pacific Northwest. Creative programming and intimate concert experiences are hallmarks of 45th Parallel, which endeavors to bring the Northwest's rich chamber music culture out of the living room and onto the stage. They have brought performers together from the Oregon Symphony, Portland Baroque Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and others, in some of the most talked-about musical evenings in Portland during the last few years.
