Family Design and Build Workshops
Be an architect for a day! Young architects work with their family to build a model together. Through discussion and hands-on activities, workshop participants learn how design impacts the ways we live, work and play. These workshops are recommended for 8 - 12 year olds. Young architects must register with an adult and families should bring sack lunches. Snacks and beverages will be provided. This year our workshop themes are:
January 25: Dynamic Designs For Historic Buildings
Create a new modern building that can coexist beautifully with old houses in a historic Seattle neighborhood!
March 22: Places to Play at the Waterfront: Design a Playground
Seattle's Downtown doesn't have a lot of spaces where kids can play. With Seattle's new waterfront soon to be under construction, it's a great time to think about playground design that would meet family needs in our urban core.
Workshops are on the 4th Saturdays of the month. Workshops are 3 hours long and run from 11-2pm. Young architects must register with an adult and families should bring sack lunches. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
Cost is $15 for parents and $10 per child. A family pass is also available and includes registration in all 3 family workshops and 1 family architecture tour for 3-5 participants. A family pass can be purchased for a discounted price of $150 dollars.
