| Description |
Featuring the choreography of Philein Wang and Lori Tilkin and directed by Hollywood director Joerg Ihle,
"Stories from Home" will present an evening of existing and new multi-disciplinary work by choreographer, poet and composer Philein Wang focusing on memories of places she has called home in the San Francisco Bay Area, Taipei and Beijing.
Throughout the Stories From Home showcase, Wang will introduce her Tiger Hip Hop/ Tiger Motion(TM) dance and music which received critical acclaim during performances in China earlier this year.
Created by Philein Wang, Tiger Hip Hop/ Tiger Motion(TM) is a new dance form which incorporates Tiger Claw, Wushu, Tai-chi, Modern Dance and Hip Hop. This mesmerizing, hybridized movement is meant to mesh seamlessly with Philein Wangs music to create a performance-based immersion into classic Chinese heritage. In the same way that African-American hip hop and Argentinian Capoeira are dance manifestations of fighting styles, Tiger Hip Hop creates a motion-based history of the Chinese Martial Art movement. |
