Marco Vangelisti Presents "Financial System"
The ShareExchange is excited to welcome back Marco Vangelisiti!
In the face of increasing economic instability, building a resilient, enduring and equitable local economy is vital. To achieve this, we need to understand the current economic system, how it affects our communities and ways to transform it. We also need to understand how the monetary, banking and financial systems work and their central role in the functioning of the economy.
This lecture looks at how investments and flow of capital impact our economic system and create increasing disparity in wealth and power. Financial capital has been transformed over time from an instrument to facilitate economic production to a self-perpetuating pool of capital growing through trading activities which are progressively divorced from productive economic activities. We will look at ways communities around the country are attempting to relocalize and democratize investments and capital formation.
Marco Vangelisti is the leader of Essential Knowledge for Transition, EK4T. Inspired by the science education movement, which achieved significant progress improving science literacy among the lay public. EK4T aims at making the subjects of money, banking, economics and finance more accessible to the general public.
