In this 2-part class, we will explore basic painting and collage techniques in a relaxed and low-stress atmosphere. The focus is on experimenting and trying new approaches, without being hung up on getting perfect results. Remember, everything takes practice. Let's loosen up and have some creative fun!|
The class is aimed at beginners, dabblers, and "back-inners" or those who used to love art but have been away from the practice for a while. We will cover basic applications of paper and paint, ways to create texture, and how to develop balanced compositions. A variety of paints, gels, and mediums will be introduced. Because of the small class size (4-7 people), I can easily customize instruction to meet your needs. Just let me know if you have specific goals for the class.
All materials are provided for an additional $26 fee, payable to Pam Consear at the first class. OR you may bring your own supplies (including easel, painting surface, paints, brushes, palette knives and palette).
This class meets in my well-equipped home studio. You'll have access to an extensive collection of fun and interesting papers, discarded books, and other "ephemera" (things like ticket stubs, labels, wrappers, and other cast-offs of daily life) that will spark your imagination. If you prefer to use paint only, that's just fine also.
The studio is in my home's garage. It faces the street and I keep the large garage door open to the outside. Consider the weather and dress appropriately for nearly-outside. Also dress for a mess! I have paint shirts for those who want to protect their clothing.
