From Page to Stage to Screen: screenplay craft - Rosalind Bell (Tootie Pie)
Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center Seattle, WA
FROM PAGE TO STAGE TO SCREEN: SCREENPLAY WRITING MINI-WORKSHOP with Rosalind Bell (TOOTIE PIE).
The screenwriter discusses the basics of screenwriting, from script format to the production process. Actors perform a scene from the short film TOOTIE PIE, written by Rosalind Bell and directed by Virginia Bogert. Next, the group watches the same scene in the completed film. A Q&A session follows, offering beginning or emerging screenwriters and filmmakers the valuable opportunity to ask about characterization, technique, story development, effective dialogue, and other essential aspects of writing for the screen. $5.00. Stay for the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival opening night and premiere of 3 Films 3 Visions, short films by local African American filmmakers, at 6:00 p.m.
