Newtown Pippin Apples at Stone Barns Center
Two years ago, Slow Food NYC began a campaign to restore the delicious but scarce Newtown Pippin Apple to New York City tables. This spring, our first Newtown Pippin trees are being donated to three Hudson Valley farms and to the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture.
Join fellow Slow Foodists on April 29, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Stone Barns for this notable apple event.
Activities: 2:00 pm - a visit to the site of the newly planted Newtown Pippin Trees and a chat with Jack Algiere, the Stone Barns "Four Seasons Grower" 3:00 pm - a talk about the Stone Barns Center mission by Daphne Derven, Stone Barns Director of Program and Development 4:00 pm - refreshments provided by Blue Hill Cafe in the Hay Barn and a talk about the Slow Food USA Ark of Taste and New York City's own Newtown Pippin
