Benjamin Apple is a paranoid schizophrenic. Recently diagnosed with advanced-stage cancer, he has elected not to take any form of treatment - relying on the advice from one of the tormenting voices he hears from regularly. His older brother is frustrated and saddened through his attempt to get Benjie to consider measures that could extend his life. His mental health nurse is conflicted between her professional obligations and empathy for her client, and his oncologist is uncertain of how to penetrate barriers of a patient who needs his help. One victim facing two voices and three individuals, all engaged in the well being of his existence.
Inspired by true events, this production brings to light powerful feelings and ethical dilemmas surrounding the intersection of mental illness and terminal illness while conveying the unwavering love and concern of family.
**Opening Night Benefit (10/3) will include a dessert reception & proceeds will benefit the JFCS (Mpls) & JFS (St. Paul) Mental Health Education Project's annual fall conference.
