Once again, this group of entertainers mixes singing, dancing, low-brow comedy, and magical hijinx, with vaudeville, circus, and of course burlesque themes, to whet all appetites. The three-act show boasts a cast and crew of about twenty creative types, locally rooted, who present the greater Phoenix area with naughty, brash and silly humor, along with their freakshow feats and saucy dance acts.
This closing show of the 2008 season brings back dangerous acts of twirling and spinning weaponry with Motley Sue, just back from her tour back east, along with other favorite acts from the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Meet Goat Girl, stroke the whiskers of a silly bearded lady and take in the classic burlesque tease of Dolly Diamonds. Laugh at the antics of Sharon DeLove and tap your toes to silly lyrics by Tom Tuerff. Clap along as a group of dancing dames kick up their heels and shake your head as Lucy Morals offends, yet again. Like any slick carnie, she is there to shock and amaze, and to pimp and promote her crew of performers and freaks to make a quick buck for whiskey and wine.
Newly added to the shows repertoire the Concert Room where show-goers can step out of the Cabaret Room to take in live music by local bands.
If an evening of variety is what you seek, then Romantasy Cabaret serves it up under the big top of Club Red and Red Owl in Tempe. Prepare for a full night out as the show runs 3 or more hours long and the live music lasts until 1am. Intermissions allow for time to stretch legs, grab a libation and check out the Concert Room.
