Based on 2 works by French playwright Jean Anouilh, Resnais uses current actors viewing a tape of an other ensemble doing an experimental work that they all have appeared in. An exploration of the intersection of past and present, reality and cinema, life, theater and time; themes present in all of his masterpieces.
