Opening night! 3 Films, 3 Visions - PREMIERE. This collaborative filmmaking venture features three narrative works filmed on the streets of Seattle. Company founders Winfield Ezell Jr., Alen Blake and Bryan Johnson will also showcase a behind-the-scenes look inside production of their films: "Mary Jane","Sometimes ... and Always in a Dream" and "Swipe." Filmmakers will be present after the screenings for discussion. A reception with food and beverages follows.
-MARY JANE:Written/Directed by Winfield Ezell, Jr. For Nigel, talent seems to come easily, but at what price? -SWIPE: Written/Directed by Bryan Johnson. An exploration into choice and conscience for a talented hustler. - SOMETIMES...AND ALWAYS IN A DREAM: Written/Directed by Alen Blake. A truly American story dealing with the conflicts of personal success against the tapestry of the American Dream.
Note: This Spring, Seattle Parks and Recreation's Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center (LHPAC) will host the Third Annual African American Film Festival featuring the work of 40 filmmakers from around the world,April 22-April 30.Supported by Seattle Parks and Recreation, 4 Culture, the Washington State Arts Commission, the Mayor's office of Arts and Cultural Affairs and Vulcan, the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival gives Northwest audiences a chance to view a diverse array of irreverent, poignant, provocative documentary films on topics such as youth, New Orleans, social justice and relationships.
