Cyro Baptista with Todd Clouser's A Love Electri
Legendary percussionist and composer Cyro Baptista, known for his work with artists from Paul Simon to John Zorn, comes to Minneapolis August 10th at Icehouse. Joined by Minneapolis bred Todd Clouser's A Love Electric, an art rock outfit spanning 4 nationalities, Cyro will be performing his unique take on world music infused rock. An inimitable performer, Baptista comes to Minneapolis for the second time in 2013, having most recently performed at the Walker Art Center as a member of John Zorn's 60th birthday ensemble.
Since arriving in the U.S. in 1980 from his native country Brazil, Cyro Baptista has emerged as one of the premier percussionists in the country. Coinciding with the rise in the public's interest of world music, Cyro has managed to record and tour with some of music's most popular names. His mastery of Brazilian percussion and the many instruments he creates himself, have catapulted him into world renown. Cyro and A Love Electric have toured Central America together performing at some of the region's most celebrated festivals and theaters.
